The 1/2 Church of Mad Scientology (aka a rant in Bb minor)

First a huge thanks to everyone that came out and/or participated (especially Chris & Boris). It was a very fun if abbreviated set and we hope to have a revival meeting in the not too distance future that will be a full length performance (perhaps a human sacrifice will be in order this time). If you missed the show don't worry you catch the extended version next time it comes around AND we may have some video of the show up in the next week or two! A huge apology to all who missed the show due to us going on later than expected and having a 3 song set.

Now time for a Rant in Bb minor (an explanation of the abbreviated set). Note: The opinions expressed here are only that of The Mad Scientist known as Kim and may or may not reflect the opinions of the rest of the band. Any hate or love regarding the following should be directed at her and not Christina or Brannon (unless they of choose to voice their own opinions then direct responses accordingly). The complaints here are only directed at one band on last night's and that band is not from Denton/DFW.

First, I admit I had some concerns about the band booking this show from the start but did not listen to my instinct (bad me). I personally think its a bad idea to load a bill with so many band that there if a delay happens the whole show become 12 car pile up but hey that's just me and I'm a bit wacky. Also, its a good idea to let the bands know ALL the band on the bill and what order sometime before the show. Promotion for the show was significantly delayed since we couldn't get a response on 3 different emails sent about the lineup (thus my early concerns) and one band got no promotion because had no way of knowing there was a 5th band playing. While we were waiting for the band who planned everything to arrive it came to light that we were all pretty much in the dark (to varying degrees) about the evening. Once, the band arrived it got no better as they seemed to think everything would just magically fall into place and didn't feel the need to tell bands the set order or modified times (since things were running late) unless you tracked down the right person. We were told after the 1st band had started that bands would not have 30 min. sets as originally planned but 3 songs sets. Said person didn't feel the need to inform any other band of this since they didn't hunt him down. This includes the first band who were already playing while we were being enlightened. While we did ponder the idea of playing 2 songs and making them Slow Collision and Amethyste (our instrumental jams that can go from 5 - 20 min each) we realized this would only hurt the other bands who had done nothing wrong so we simply shortened the original set. Band number 2, who booked the show (and originally told us they wanted to headline), then went on to play a 6 song set! Not cool. Then they bailed out before the last band's set. I don't mean to come off as whining or complaining that is not my intention but the lack of togetherness was utterly shocking. Additionally, I felt a need to explain what happened to those who missed our set because they stepped outside for a smoke, some fresh air, etc. and when they stepped back in we were breaking down and thus utterly confused.
