Superb, but then I am a longtime Zappa freak. Absolutely fantastic guitar, luscious REAL tones, flawless lead and rhythm work.

June Featured Band - jetscreamer

Texas blues punk from Saturn. If this band's live shows don't get you moving you have no soul. jetscreamer (www.jetcreamertx.com) manages to capture the very best of a diverse range of musical genres often times in just one song. The first song off the album Starjob, Front Porch, starts off as a Texas blues rocker that would make SRV proud and then turns into a psychdelic guitar fest ala Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd. Songs like Black Hole combine a radio friendly feel while still retaining a true underground punk spirit by emphasizing chaotic noise based solos instead of melodic scale work. Any song that mentions Texas most notorious legends has to be doing something right. The band is a three piece (2 slide guitars and drums) which is difficult to believe considering the wall of sound they get in song like meow!!! and bliss. And if you enjoy epic noise fests in the vein of Sonic Youth you should also check out the Eliminator e.p., a fine example of what independent music can be.

If this Mad Robot is a Rockin'....

If you missed our show at the Darkside this Saturday. You missed one of our best performances. The sound guy Brian is a genius and really knows his stuff. Plus, he is very hospitable (as is all of the staff) and very funny. The Darkside is currently my favorite club is Dallas. When you do the kind of craziness we do you really know and appreciate the importance of someone of his caliber. We played a rockin' 45 minute set covered in a thick layer of slime and funk. Kim's wah wah pedal made its first on stage appearance ever, even though she has owned it for 7 years. A college roommate or a friend(s) of said roommate is suspected of breaking it. But thanks to a little bit of help the minor surgery was conducted earlier this week (6.6.6) and it has been reanimated. The crowd although small was very receptive to our experimentations. It turns out there were some very large shows that night in Dallas and we had a lot of competition. So, thanks to all of you showed up and decided that we were more important than reunion shows. If you missed the show you must check out Rubber Robot (www.myspace.com/rubberrobot). They are an excellent band out of Austin and they make a great companion with us on a bill. Heavy psychedelic/experimental rock with a theramin and the whole bands wears military type shirts and horse heads. Awwwwww yeah!
Headlining was SALVIA DIVINORUM (www.myspace.com/salviadivinorum. Also, from Austin they brought some old school heavy guitar based garage rock to the stage. I can promise not a single subject walked away disappointed after the unleashing of monstrosities on this night. (Sorry Sam for missing your bday party.) More live experimentations coming soon...

June Featured Song on MySpace

June's featured song on myspace (www.myspace.com/themadscientists) is Life Left Behind. Its quarky upbeat jazz infused rock. Lyrically this is something everyone can relate and you get a blazing guitar intro. Damn the man and rockin' guitar this is what rock is about.

Work my life away
tryin' to get ahead
trying to climb that ladder
have to move on up
don't have time to live
have to get that raise
don't you get in my way, buddy

We're all in search of something more but it's so hard to find
So far removed from our own world no wonder we're all blind to the fact
that the best life for our kind is the one we've left behind
Live you life authentically if you're so inclined
Reclaim your own culture and liberate your mind
The best life for our kind is the one we've left behind

Work is who you are;
your whole identity
Better jump on it
Your status is at stake
Exist without experience;
live without life
'cause the money's all that matters anyway

We're all in search of something more but it's so hard to find
So far removed from our own world no wonder we're all blind to the fact
that the best life for our kind is the one we've left behind
Life you life authentically if you're so inclined
Reclaim your own culture and liberate your mind
The best life for our kind is the one we've left behind

Repeat
Better not think or you might wake up
better swallow your pill or you might go mad
Better not think or you might wake up
better swallow your pill or you might go mad
